You may know him as “Hey Eric” from The Weekly Walk podcast, or the voice encouraging you in your Journey walking classes, but here are 9 things you may not know about Coach Eric:
Eric discovered CrossFit more than a decade ago – many years before it became a household name. He was hooked immediately. There was no CrossFit gym anywhere near his home, so he got used to people looking at him strangely as he would do crazy CrossFit style workouts at his local gym. Fast forward more than a decade, and in 2021, he was ranked number 16 in the world in his age group.
Sometimes Eric thinks of something that he finds so funny (at least to him) that he starts to laugh so hard tears stream down his face and he literally can’t talk, rendering him completely unable to share whatever is so funny with anyone else. But we’re sure it’s hilarious …
Eric is a middle child, sandwiched between an older sister and younger brother.
He’s a parrothead (if you know, you know).
Eric makes one of the world’s best hamburgers. No kidding, the kids call them “daddy burgers” and they are delicious. And yes, he’ll share the recipe with anyone who asks.
More than two decades ago, Eric had Lasik surgery, which freed him from a lifetime of glasses and contacts. He’s never looked back.
Eric is an accomplished mountain climber and has climbed some of the world’s most iconic peaks including Mont Blanc in Switzerland, Cotopaxi in Ecuador and Mt. Rainier in Washington state.
For three years after he graduated from college, Eric spent the winters teaching skiing in Colorado in the winters and the summer teaching windsurfing in Hawaii.
Eric has a huge heart and will literally do anything for those he loves.
