From Strong to Stronger

You hear the wind whistling outside, but you grab your shoes anyway. You stifle a yawn, but still you pull on your coat. Your way too long to-do list is calling your name, but you turn from it and walk toward the door.

Today, you put yourself first and let the strength that you have inside you propel you forward, guiding you toward that commitment you’ve made to yourself. With that first step, you show you are strong. And with each one that follows, you become stronger. Add with the support of family, friends and a like-minded community, you become stronger still.

What you do today makes you strong. And what you do tomorrow makes you stronger.

We often don’t give ourselves enough credit. We feel that we have to survive some monumental moment in our life to build up strength. To have been put to the test through a trial so grand that seeing the other side beckons all our willpower. But it’s just not true. Strength is built from doing. From taking that first step. From trying something new and stepping out of our comfort zone.

Though strong means having or showing great bodily or muscular power, it also means being mentally powerful. It means portraying firmness and courage, expressing how, every day, we resist temptations and put our health and wellness first. Strength is more than lifting heavy things, but also the grit and determination to go one step further than yesterday.

It's picking yourself up when you stumble, and offering a hand to those who may need a little encouragement. It’s about being vulnerable and asking for help, or sharing your experiences to give others hope. It’s about being open and honest with yourself, reflecting on how you can learn and grow to become better.

So, today, take a moment to realize your strength. Think about what you’re doing already in your life to exemplify a strong woman. And then, what can you do to take it one step further. To become stronger. Maybe it’s walking one extra mile this month, or eating an extra serving of vegetables or drinking one more glass of water each day. Perhaps it’s reaching out to a friend to let them know what they mean to you, or even just giving yourself a high-five when you see your reflection in the mirror.

Know that, today, just by showing up, you are strong. And that this month, with each step forward, you will move from strong to stronger.
