A difficult letter from Joyce

Dear 99 Walks Pack:

Leading this community for the past five years has been an honor. We’ve been through a lot together: we’ve weathered a global pandemic, political upheaval, injuries, and illness. Together, we’ve created a space where women are able to show up as their authentic selves, a place where all are welcome and celebrated. We’ve learned that every step counts, every mile matters, and a regular walking practice can transform our lives.

It has been one of the great joys of my life.

And yet, knowing when it has become impossible to continue is crucial: sadly, September will be the final month of 99 Walks. 

Despite many hours of effort, we have been unable to find a way to keep 99 Walks going. In short, we have exhausted our financial resources and do not have the funds to continue operations.

As of September 30, no new classes or content will be added to the 99 Walks and, as of October 15, the app will be gone from the app store. If you have the app installed on your device, you will continue to have access to tracking, however, goal setting and classes will be unavailable. And September: Walk the Mile You’re In, will be the last of the 99 Walks wearable inspiration, which somehow feels fitting.

Walk with us through the final month and earn your September bracelet. All billing will be disabled and you won’t need to do anything to cancel your subscription.

Okay, that’s the bad news, but there is a bright spot! Those of you who wish to continue your walking journey will be able to do so with Coach Carrie in her brand new app and community, Walk U. All the info will be coming in a separate email, but stay tuned for a fantastic program of walking, coaching, progressions, community, and of course, the classes that you already know and love—all of the things you need to keep your walking plan on point – all under Coach Carrie's fantastic leadership. Stay tuned for an email from Coach Carrie, follow her @coachcarriewalks and the brand new Walk U program at @walk.u.app or in the 99 Walks Facebook Group (which will transition to Walk U on October 1).

I don’t have words to express how difficult this decision has been, nor how honored I have been to lead this community. I know, without a doubt, that the entire HQ team feels the same.
